"Good News" for Africa!

The good news for Africa is found in Matthew 16:18, where Jesus promised to build his Church:

“…I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”

Did you know that there are as many Christians living in Africa today as there are Americans living in the U.S.! In 1900, there were approximately 10 million professing Christians in Africa, but by the year 2000 that number had grown to 360 million. In fact, from 1970 to 1985, while more than 4,000 people each day were leaving the Church in the U.S. and Europe, more than 16,000 people were being added daily to the Church in Africa. That adds up to about 6 million new converts per year. The most recent estimates are that there are approximately 390 million professing Christians on the continent of Africa.

If this trend continues, there will be more than 600 million Christians in Africa by the year 2025. This will make Africa the most Christian continent in the world. Consequently, the Christianity that is being established in Africa today will significantly shape the Christianity of the future.
